What free actually means here
Free tiers usually mean a watermark, a low-resolution download or a code that quietly dies in 14 days. None of those apply.
- Unlimited static codes
- No account and no email address
- No watermark and no branding
- No expiry date, ever
- PNG and SVG download
- Colours, frames, corner styles and your logo
- URL, text, Wi-Fi, email, phone, SMS and vCard
- Commercial use included
The honest limit
A free code cannot change its mind
The destination is inside the pattern. Move the page, change the booking system, swap the PDF, and the printed code is wrong. That is the whole reason dynamic codes exist - and the free plan includes 3 of them so you can see it work before paying $12 a month for more.
| Static | Dynamic | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free forever | 3 free, then a plan |
| Account needed | No | Yes, to save and edit it |
| Change what it says | Never. The content is inside the pattern | The destination, any time |
| What is inside the code | The content itself - a link, a network, a contact card | A short link we own, which is what you edit |
| Scan analytics | None | Scans, day, city, device |
| Expiry | Never | Never, including after you cancel |
| Best for | Wi-Fi, contact cards, anything that must work offline | Menus, packaging, signage, campaigns |
Paid plans from $12/mo. Unlimited scans. Cancel online in two clicks.
Our policy
Static codes never expire. Dynamic codes work while you have a plan.
A static QR code carries its destination inside the pattern itself. There is no redirect, no server, nothing anyone can switch off - so the ones you make here are yours forever, free, with no account and no expiry date. If what you need is a code that outlives us, make it static and print it.
A dynamic code is different: it points at a redirect we run on your behalf every time somebody scans it, which is what lets you change the destination after printing. That runs while you have a plan. Cancel and it keeps working for 30 more days, we email you before anything changes, and nothing is ever deleted - your codes, links and scan history all wait for you.
What lasts, and for how long
- ForeverStatic codes, free, no account
- On a planEditable destinations and scan analytics
- 30 daysDynamic codes keep working after you cancel
- KeptCodes and history, so paying restores everything
- StoppedCodes used for abuse
Abuse is the one thing we stop immediately and without a grace period - phishing, malware, fraud, impersonation and the rest of the acceptable use policy.
Why people upgrade
It is never about the image
After the print run
Change the link once the poster is on the wall
The campaign URL moved, the menu became a PDF, the booking system changed. Point the same code somewhere else and every future scan follows it. Nothing gets reprinted.
Evidence
Know how many people actually scanned
Scans by day, by city, by device, by code. Enough to tell a table tent that works from five thousand flyers that nobody picked up.
One code, many campaigns
Stop printing a new code every season
The same code carries the spring menu, the summer one and the holiday one. The code is the address; the destination is yours to move.
Questions
Free QR codes, answered
- Is this really free?
- Yes. Static QR codes are unlimited, watermark-free and free forever, and downloading one does not ask for an account, an email address or a card.
- Will my free QR code stop working later?
- No. A static code contains your destination inside the pattern itself, so nothing on our side is involved when someone scans it. It keeps working even if we do not.
- Can I use free codes commercially?
- Yes. Put them on menus, packaging, business cards, invoices, anything. There is no licence fee and no attribution requirement.
- What resolution do I get?
- PNG for everyday use and SVG for print. SVG is vector, so it stays sharp at any size a printer asks for.
- What can free codes not do?
- A static code cannot be edited after it is printed and cannot report scans, because we are not part of the scan. That is what dynamic codes are for, and the free plan includes 3 of them.
- Do you keep the codes I make here?
- Only if you ask us to. A static code is generated in your browser; nothing about it is sent to us unless you save it to an account.
