Terms of service

The agreement between you and Runless AS for using QRCodeGenerator. Written to be read, not to be survived.

Last updated 8 September 2026

1. Who we are

QRCodeGenerator is operated by Runless AS. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Runless AS, and "you" means the person or organisation using the service. You can reach us at support@example.com.

By using the service you agree to these terms, our privacy policy and our acceptable use policy.

2. What the service does

We generate QR codes. There are two kinds and the difference matters legally as well as practically:

  • Static codes encode your data directly in the image. Once downloaded they do not involve us at all. They are free, unlimited, need no account, and we cannot change, disable or track them.
  • Dynamic codes encode a short link we host. Scanning one sends the visitor to us and we redirect them to the destination you have set. This is the part you pay for, and the part we are responsible for keeping available.

3. Your account

You need an account only to create and manage dynamic codes. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to the email address you sign in with. You must be at least 16 years old, or old enough to enter a contract where you live, whichever is higher.

4. Your content and destinations

You keep ownership of everything you upload and of every destination you point a code at. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your files, serve them to people who scan your codes, and display them back to you.

You are responsible for the destinations. You confirm that you have the right to use them and that they do not break the acceptable use policy.

5. Subscriptions, renewals and price

  • Paid plans start at $12 per month. Prices, limits and included features are shown on the pricing page and are the ones that apply.
  • A monthly plan renews every month and an annual plan renews every twelve months, at the same price you agreed, until you cancel. There is no introductory rate that increases later.
  • The full amount charged is shown before you confirm, including the total annual figure for annual plans. Applicable tax is shown at checkout.
  • If we ever change the price of your plan we will tell you by email at least 30 days beforehand, and the change will apply from your next renewal. You can cancel before then.
  • Payment is taken by our payment provider. We do not store your card details.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not ask you to call anyone, wait for a reply or explain yourself. See the refunds and cancellation policy for what is refundable.

7. What happens to your codes if you stop paying

This is a term of this agreement, not a marketing line, so it is written plainly:

Static codes never stop. A static code carries its destination inside the pattern. Scanning one never contacts us, so there is nothing we could switch off even if we wanted to. Those are free, unlimited, and yours permanently.

Dynamic codes run while you have a plan. A dynamic code points at a redirect we operate on every scan, which is what lets you change the destination after printing. If you cancel or your subscription lapses, that redirect keeps running for a further 30 days. After that the code serves a page telling whoever scanned it that the code is inactive, rather than an error.

We will email you before this happens, and again when it does. Nothing is deleted: your codes, their short links, their destinations and their scan history are all retained, so reactivating turns every code back on immediately, with the same links and no reprinting.

The exceptions, which we will apply only for cause:

  • Codes that break the acceptable use policy are disabled, whether or not the account is paid.
  • Codes belonging to an account suspended for fraud or a chargeback are disabled while that is unresolved.
  • If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we will give at least 90 days notice by email so you can move or reprint. We will keep redirects running for that period.

We may pause or rate-limit a redirect that is generating abnormal traffic, if that is needed to keep the service up for everyone else.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the redirect service available continuously, and it is deliberately built to stay up when everything else is down. We do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee on free plans. We may carry out maintenance, and we will avoid taking redirects down for it.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the acceptable use policy, that is used to harm others, or that exposes us to legal risk. Where the circumstances allow it we will tell you what is wrong and give you a chance to fix it first. You can close your account at any time.

10. Liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or the cost of reprinting materials. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.

Because printed materials are expensive to redo, please test a printed code before a full run. We provide a scan check for heavily styled codes, but a physical test on the final material is the only reliable one.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law, and disputes go to the Norwegian courts. If you are a consumer, this does not remove any protection you have under the law of the country you live in.
