What guests see when they scan it
- iPhone: the Camera app shows a banner to join the network. One tap and it connects.
- Android: the camera or Google Lens offers to connect.
- Laptops: print the network name and password in small type under the code.
Your password stays on your device. This page builds and draws the code in your browser, so nothing you type reaches us unless you switch Dynamic on and save it.
What a Wi-Fi QR code holds
A short line of text. For a network called Cafe-Guest, this generator writes:
WIFI:T:WPA;S:Cafe-Guest;P:espresso2026;;- T, the security type. WPA (covers WPA2), WEP or none. It has to match the router, or the phone tries the right password the wrong way. A WPA3-only setting isn’t offered here yet.
- S, the network name. Exactly as phones list it: capitals and spaces count.
- P, the password. Left out entirely for an open network, rather than sent empty.
- H:true. Only for a network that hides its name. Tick it under More options, and only then.
A ; , : " or \ in the name or password gets a backslash in front, so “Bar; Kitchen” isn’t cut short at the semicolon. To read the line inside a code you already have, use the QR code scanner.
When you change the password
The password is printed into the pattern. You have two ways to deal with that.
Print a new one
For a password that changes once a year, make a fresh code here. Free, and it works offline, because the guest isn’t online yet when they scan.
Make it editable
The code opens a page with the network, the password, Copy buttons and a join code for a second phone. Change the password once and every print shows the new one.

Before it goes on the wall
- Scan your own print on an iPhone and an Android phone before you make twenty.
- Keep the pale border the download comes with. A frame pressed against the squares can stop it scanning.
- Matte, not gloss, if it hangs under a downlight.
- Give guests their own network if your router has one, so the code doesn’t hand out the one your computers use.

Does a Wi-Fi QR code expire?
No. It holds the network details themselves, so it keeps working until you rename the network or change the password. Nothing on our side can switch it off.
Where do I find my network name and password?
Look for SSID and key on the sticker on your router. If they’ve been changed since, the router’s settings page or your internet provider’s app shows the current ones.
Can guests see the password?
Yes, if they want to. A QR scanner shows the text inside the code, and a phone can share a network it has joined. So treat the code like the password written on a card.
Why doesn’t my phone offer to join?
Check three things: the name matches the network exactly, the security type matches the router, and Hidden is ticked only for a hidden network.
Can I make one for a network with no password?
Yes. Choose No password and the code carries the network name only.
